About Ash

Ashley Kendall is a London based Architect at Hawkins\Brown. Ash believes architecture begins and ends with people, which is why he gravitates towards softer forms of architectural representation. Hand drawing has been central in how he both explores and communicates design in his studies at both: the University of Portsmouth and the Welsh School of architecture along with his current and previous roles at Hawkins\Brown and Ayre Chamberlain Gaunt architects.

Ash started Linesmith in 2021 as both and archive of and promotion of his particular approach to architectural illustration; holding together both precision and wit, breathing both life and clarity into a project, presenting architecture in a way that is both realistic and profoundly human. Here you can find a selection of Ash’s personal hand drawn portfolio works that have won competitions in the UK and abroad and featured in publications including the Architects Journal.
